LEDBURY RESTAURANT
Project type
Interior Design
Date
2022
Location
Notting hill, London
A series of mycelium tiles developed for a restaurant interior, exploring how fungal materials can be used within a high-end, real-world setting. The tiles are grown using UK-sourced organic substrates, allowing natural variation in texture, density and surface to emerge through the process rather than being designed in advance.
Installed as a panelled wall, the work brings mycelium into a context typically defined by refined and traditional materials, positioning it alongside finishes such as timber, stone and metal. The result is a surface that feels both organic and deliberate, holding the irregular qualities of growth within a controlled architectural setting.
The project demonstrates how mycelium can move beyond experimental samples into applied interior use, functioning not only as a material but as a visible part of the atmosphere and identity of a space.
Completed in 2022 in collaboration with These White Walls and the Bristol Fungarium.
