ANGEL AT THE HETTON
Project type
Interior Design
Date
2022
Location
Skipton, North Yorkshire
Designed to help with the restaurant's acoustic reverberation. The mycelium partitions were grown with a surface that could dampen sound and add to the warm and natural environment in it's dining room.
A series of mycelium panels developed for a restaurant interior, exploring how living materials can be grown and assembled into architectural elements. Individual panels are bonded together while still alive, allowing the mycelium to fuse into a single, continuous structure rather than being mechanically fixed. This process creates a two-sided panel, with each face carrying its own texture and variation while remaining structurally unified.
The work combines locally sourced timber with grown mycelium, balancing organic formation with controlled framing. It reflects an approach to material that is both cultivated and constructed, where the final outcome is shaped as much by growth as by design.
Designed and built in collaboration with Antler Interiors and Osmose Studios in 2022.
